Andalusia, Spain
Seville's plazas, Ronda's gorge, and Granada's Moorish palaces
November 25 – November 28, 2024
Plaza de España
Plaza de España in Seville displays Spanish Renaissance Revival architecture. Tiled benches represent each province, and semicircular colonnades frame the plaza’s expanse.
Old quarters
Alcázar gardens combine Moorish and Renaissance elements. Palm trees, hedges, and pavilions form geometric patterns. Streets in old quarters narrow to single passages, walls painted white against the heat.
Ronda, El Tajo gorge
Buildings perch on cliff edges above El Tajo gorge. The Puente Nuevo bridge connects the old and new town across a 120-meter drop. Evening light catches white walls and terracotta roofs.
Surrounding countryside
Morning fog settles in valleys around Ronda. Olive groves and farmland spread between mountain ranges, the sierra creating layers of blue and brown in early light.
The Alhambra
The Nasrid palace complex sits above Granada. Reflecting pools mirror Moorish arches, tile work covers walls in geometric patterns, courtyards frame views of the Albaicín quarter below.
Gardens and views
Beyond the palace walls, the Sierra Nevada rises snow-capped even in warmer months. Orange trees grow in the Generalife gardens, their fruit bright against white gravel paths.
